Ukrainian Traditions for Independence Day by IvAlive & Partners

In collaboration with our partners, Ukraine Reborn and the Ukraine Center Lausanne, we were able to create a truly heartfelt Ukrainian Independence Day celebration, bringing together over 1,000 guests at a Sorochynsky Fair.

The event was a full expression of our culture. We listened to the beautiful performances of our favorite songs by both adults and the young members of the IvAlive choir. Leo also lifted our spirits with his rendition of "Oh, the Red Viburnum in the Meadow" ("Ой  у лузі червона калина").

Guests had the chance to purchase books by Ukrainian authors, which the IvAlive team brought from Ukraine, helping them build personal libraries in Switzerland. They could also choose traditional clothing, enjoy familiar dishes, and even have their hair styled in long, lush braids.

For the first time, we hosted a fashion show featuring jewelry created by Ukrainian artisans and organized what may have been the largest fair of toys, decorations, sweets, and accessories from our talented creators.

We celebrated Independence Day in an atmosphere filled with warmth and the comforting sense of home.
