On 18 June, KnygAlive Library is launching a new cultural and educational initiative — Book Club by KnygAlive — created for everyone who enjoys reading, exploring new meanings, and sharing thoughts about books.

Some books stay with us long after we read the last page. Their stories continue through our reflections, conversations, and new interpretations. This idea lies at the heart of Book Club by KnygAlive — a community where reading becomes a starting point for meaningful dialogue, cultural exchange, and new connections.

The project brings together classic and contemporary literature, engaging discussions, expert talks, and cultural events across Switzerland. Participants will have the opportunity not only to discover new books but also to explore wider topics such as history, culture, psychology, art, migration, and identity.

Who Is the Book Club For?

The club is for people who:

• enjoy reading and discussing books;

• are looking for a friendly and inspiring community;

• want to develop their communication skills;

• connect with others through culture and shared interests;

• value meaningful conversations and new connections.

What Can Participants Expect?

The programme includes:

• reading contemporary Ukrainian and international literature;

• expert talks and themed events;

• discussions of selected books;

• cultural events and excursions;

• visits to museums, exhibitions, and cultural sites across Switzerland;

• a community of like-minded readers and priority access to new books in the library.

Meeting Format

Book Club by KnygAlive will meet twice a month.

The first meeting will introduce the theme of the month, explore the cultural and historical context of the selected book, highlight relevant Swiss perspectives, and present the authors and titles chosen for reading.

The second meeting, held at the end of the month, will focus on reflection and discussion. Participants will share their thoughts on the book, explore different perspectives on its events and themes, and draw connections to today's world.

In addition to the regular meetings, members can look forward to special events, expert guest sessions, excursions, and new cultural experiences.

Meet the Curators

The club will be guided by:

Maria Vashchuk — a guide through the world of stories who turns books into engaging conversations;

Lilia Alandarenko — a curator who helps readers discover deeper meaning and context in literature;

Oleksandr Busha — the designer of the club's sessions, building a space for open dialogue and shared discoveries.

Our Mission

Book Club by KnygAlive aims to promote a culture of reading, support integration through culture, introduce participants to Ukrainian and international literature, and create opportunities for communication, learning, and personal growth.

Through books, we will explore the world in all its diversity and go beyond the pages — into real conversations, cultural events, and shared discoveries.

Participation is free of charge.
