Every year, on the fourth Saturday of November, Ukraine honors the memory of the victims of the Holodomor — the man-made famine of 1932–1933 — as well as the mass famines of 1921–1923 and 1946–1947.

These tragedies were deliberately caused by the Soviet regime as an attempt to crush Ukrainian resistance. Millions of people lost their lives, and many remain unnamed because the regime hid the truth for decades.

On Friday, 21 November, we will gather at IvAlive to commemorate the victims with a symbolic event. The programme will include:

• an opening talk by Vira Ostashchuk on the historical significance of this day;

• a moment of silence and the singing of the national anthem;

• a performance by the IvAlive children’s choir;

• a creative workshop called “Black Ear of Grain”, where participants will make a themed artwork together.

We warmly welcome adults and children from age 7 and up. Together, we will honor the memory and help preserve it for future generations — no matter where in the world we live.
