Extension of "S Status" for Ukrainians in Switzerland
The "S" protection status for Ukrainians has been extended for as long as the situation in Ukraine poses a threat to its people. As a result, on September 4, the Federal Council extended the status until March 4, 2026.
During this time, efforts to support the integration of Ukrainians into the labor market will continue. The cantons aim to reach a 40 percent employment rate for Ukrainians by the end of the year.
The Federal Council has also introduced additional measures:
🔹 Improving communication and collaboration between various stakeholders;
🔹 Supporting projects that help with the recognition of Ukrainian qualifications and diplomas;
🔹 Enhancing employment opportunities through regional employment centers (RAVs).
Higher employment rates will benefit both the cantons, by reducing social security costs, and Ukrainians, by providing greater economic stability.
