Important: Ukrainians with S status can now work legally in Switzerland without needing a separate work permit.

The Swiss Federal Council has approved new regulations that will take effect on 1 December, to make it easier for people with S status to find and start a job.

From now on, you no longer need to apply for a separate work permit. Instead, it’s enough to simply notify the authorities. This can be done through the EasyGov.swiss platform or by contacting your local cantonal office.

Previously, employers were required to submit a formal application for a work permit — a process that often took several months. The goal of these new changes is to reduce paperwork for employers and to encourage more people with S status to join the Swiss workforce.

📌 Please note: If you receive social assistance, you may be required to take part in job integration or reintegration programmes. If you refuse, your benefits may be reduced.
