‘Chernobyl: 40 Years Later’ — An Archival Photo Exhibition in Switzerland
The IvAlive Foundation presents ‘Chernobyl: 40 Years Later’, a photo exhibition in Switzerland dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the tragedy at the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant.
The exhibition brings together archival photographs taken by Ukrainian journalists during and shortly after the events of 1986. At a time when the truth was being silenced, they worked without official permission, entered the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone, risked their health and lives to document the reality of what was really happening.
The project was created in cooperation with the Kyiv Organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine and the Union’s central office. Its goal is to preserve the truth about this tragedy, honour the memory of its victims, and help the international community understand its true scale.

This archive was built over decades and carefully preserved by the Kyiv Organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine. Many of the photographers who created these images are no longer with us, but their contribution to preserving historical memory remains invaluable.
