Zürcher Theater Spektakel — Zurich

 

From 13 to 30 August, Zurich will host Zürcher Theater Spektakel, one of the best-known international festivals of contemporary theatre.

The programme brings together theatre, dance, circus, performance, music, and contemporary art. In addition to the main theatre programme, free events, performances, and art projects will take place at the festival site and at other locations around the city.

Some events are free, while others require a ticket. We recommend checking the programme in advance and choosing the performances that interest you most.

FLOSS Festival — Basel

 

For three weeks in August, the banks of the Rhine in Basel become one of the city’s most popular places for live music.

The FLOSS Festival has been held for more than 25 years. Its main feature is a floating stage on the Rhine. The programme includes Swiss and international artists performing different styles of music.

Concerts take place in the evening, and admission is free. It’s a great option for anyone who wants to enjoy live music in the relaxed summer atmosphere of Basel.

Nyon Street Food Festival — Nyon

 

From 20 to 23 August, Nyon will host the Nyon Street Food Festival, an open-air food event featuring cuisines from different parts of the world.

Visitors can enjoy numerous food trucks and food stalls, street music, and the relaxed atmosphere of a summer festival. Its location near Lake Geneva also makes it a great opportunity to spend a day or evening in Nyon.

Wine Tastings at Cave des Viticulteurs de Bonvillars — Bonvillars

 

If you prefer a quieter way to spend your time, the August wine tastings at Cave des Viticulteurs de Bonvillars are a great opportunity to discover the region’s wine-making traditions.

Throughout August, visitors can taste local wines, discover wines produced by winemakers from Bonvillars, and learn more about this wine-growing region and its traditions.

The tastings will take place on 8, 15, 22, and 29 August, from 9:00 to 12:30.
