The EU Is Launching a New Biometric Border Control System
❗️A new Entry/Exit System (EES) will soon come into effect across European Union countries. This system is designed to modernize and strengthen the control of the EU’s external borders.
In the first stage, foreign visitors will be registered electronically. When entering the EU, citizens of non-EU countries — including Ukraine — will need to provide their biometric data:
• fingerprint scans
• a photo
This information will be stored in a single, centralized database. It will record the date, time, and place of each person’s entry and exit from the Schengen Area.
The EES will replace the traditional passport stamping system and will apply to short stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
⚠️ Please note: border checks may take longer after the new procedure is introduced, especially when entering Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, and Romania.
Plan your trip in advance and keep these updates in mind 👌🏻
