On 1 August, Switzerland celebrates its national holiday — Swiss National Day. Across the country, cities and towns come alive with concerts, festivals, official ceremonies, family activities, food markets, and cultural events.

Morges — Parade, Concerts and Open-Air Cinema

Morges invites residents and visitors to celebrate Swiss National Day with the whole family. A traditional market will be open from early morning, while children can enjoy interactive activities at Morges Castle and rides on the tourist mini-train.

In the evening, the programme includes live music, a festive parade through the town, the official ceremony, and a complimentary aperitif hosted by the municipality. The celebrations will end with a fireworks display near the castle, followed by a free open-air cinema screening.

Écublens — A Family Celebration with Sustainability in Mind

Écublens will once again celebrate Swiss National Day in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere, with a focus on safety and environmental responsibility. This year's event will take place without fireworks.

This year, Lausanne combines Swiss National Day celebrations with the start of the Tour de France Femmes. From 10:00 to 18:00, the fan zone in Ouchy will offer activities for both children and adults, entertainment, and a lively atmosphere.

Fribourg — Music, Light Shows and a Festive Atmosphere

The celebrations in Fribourg begin at 18:00 on Place des Grandes-Rames. Visitors can enjoy food stalls, drinks, and the city's traditional National Day aperitif.

Throughout the evening, the pop-rock band High5 will perform, while light installations and street performances will bring the city to life. The official ceremony begins at 20:00.

Lucerne — Folklore, Family Activities and an Open-Air Party

In Lucerne, the celebrations traditionally take place on 31 July at Europaplatz, next to the KKL concert hall.

From 14:00, visitors can enjoy the children's area and a market with local food. The folklore programme starts at 16:00, followed by the official ceremony at 19:15, including the national anthem and speeches by city representatives. The evening continues with live music and dancing to DJ sets.

Bern — Discover the Heart of Swiss Democracy

In the Swiss capital, National Day offers a special experience: visitors are invited to explore the Federal Palace.

Guided tours offer a closer look at how the Swiss Parliament works. The programme also includes meetings with the presidents of both parliamentary chambers, a performance by a brass ensemble, an interactive audio guide, and a photo area.

Children can enjoy creative activities, including William Tell colouring pages, a themed treasure hunt with prizes, and an apple bar. Adults can relax in the café and try local specialities.

Geneva — A Major Celebration for the Whole Family

Geneva invites everyone to celebrate Swiss National Day at Parc La Grange, where a large family festival will take place throughout the day.

Visitors can enjoy traditional entertainment, children's activities, concerts, DJ sets, food stalls serving local and international dishes, and a festive brunch featuring regional products. Events run from 10:00 until late in the evening.

At 19:30, the celebrations continue at Place de la Navigation with the official ceremony, featuring athlete Sarah Atcho-Jaquier, the Mayor of Geneva, and singer Lady O, winner of The Voice.

The day will end with the traditional fireworks display over Lake Geneva.
