From 13 December 2026, public transport fares in Switzerland will change. On average, fares will increase by 3.6%. The fare increase for 2027 was previously expected to be around 3.9%.

At the same time, the planned price increase for the annual GA Travelcard, which allows passengers to use public transport across Switzerland, has also been revised.

How much will the GA cost in 2027?

For adults, the annual prices will be:

• 2nd class — CHF 4,095 per year. The price will increase by CHF 100 instead of the CHF 200 previously planned.

• 1st class — CHF 6,770 per year. The price will increase by CHF 250 instead of the previously planned CHF 330.

In other words, the final price increase will be lower than originally expected.

Discounts on long-distance journeys

Throughout 2027, SBB will continue to offer Sparbillette — discounted tickets for long-distance journeys.

The total value of these discounts is expected to be at least CHF 90 million.

For passengers, this means that despite the general fare increase, there will still be opportunities to save on individual journeys.
