IvAlive invites you to a traditional Ukrainian wedding on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day
Every year, on the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day, we came together at the Sorochyn Fair. For many of us, these gatherings became a cherished tradition — a chance to enjoy the atmosphere of Ukrainian culture, spend time together, and see that our traditions continue to live on, even far from home.
This year, we'd like to introduce you to Ukraine in a different way.

Instead of simply showing you Ukrainian traditions, we invite you to become part of them through one of the most important celebrations in Ukrainian family life — a traditional Ukrainian wedding.
A Ukrainian wedding is much more than a celebration. It represents family unity, blessings, respect for elders, hospitality, and traditions passed down from one generation to the next. For centuries, these traditions have helped Ukrainians preserve their identity.
At the heart of the event will be a traditional Ukrainian wedding, carefully recreated with respect for authentic customs. Together, we'll discover traditional wedding rituals, visit a fair with Ukrainian food and handmade crafts, and end the evening with Ukrainian music, dancing, and a joyful festive atmosphere.
We'll be especially happy to welcome not only Ukrainians, but also your Swiss and international friends. It's a wonderful opportunity to introduce them to the culture and traditions that have brought Ukrainian families together for centuries and remain an important part of Ukrainian identity today.
🗓 Date: 21 August
🕠 Time: 17:30–21:00
🎟 Admission: Free
📍 Location: Pl. du Motty 4, 1024 Ecublens
Throughout the event, you'll be able to visit the fair and themed activity areas, so we recommend bringing some cash. If you'd like to congratulate the newlyweds, a small symbolic gift is always welcome.
Dress code: Wear a vyshyvanka, other traditional Ukrainian clothing, or light-coloured clothing with Ukrainian accessories such as a sylianka beaded necklace, traditional beads, a flower wreath, or other elements of Ukrainian style.
On the eve of Ukraine's Independence Day, we invite you to spend this special evening with us — surrounded by people brought together by shared values, a love for Ukrainian culture, and a wish to preserve it for future generations.
